PORTABLE POWER SUPPLY
A Bicycle or Hand Cart Transportable Laptop Power System
I have always wanted to put together a simple, but very useful "Portable Power Supply" for my laptop computer which would allow me to use my computer at local coffee shops in the patio area where there usually is no electrical outlets. Also, there are areas where free wifi is offered but you have to supply your own power in the form of the laptop's battery or some other source like maybe your vehicles cigarette lighter. This power supply set-up i am illustrating here is portable and can even be transported with a bicycle if you so desire. I myself will be using this system on my bicycles around town. It consists of four important components: 1. A 12VDC Automotive Battery.
2. 1 Set Battery Clip-on Adapter.
3. A 12VDC Battery Charger.
4. A DC/AC Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter.

» I tested the Ten-High 150 W inverter and it worked as advertised. It worked fine up to 140 W and the output was a clean sine wave and the voltage output held steady at 110 VAC. Some inverters I have had will not restart if power is removed without manually resetting them. This one restarts automatically. The supplied cables are too small a gauge wire and the On/Off switch is installed upside down. I would buy another one. «

AUTOMOTIVE TYPE BATTERY In my search for an appropriate portable battery capable of being transported on a bicycle i discovered that most batteries used in vehicles and deep cycle type batteries are quite heavy and not suitable for bicycle transport. However, there are some automotive batteries that might work. One such battery is Walmarts Everstart Model 26R-5-N/26-5N. This battery seems light enough to haul around on a bicycle. I also ran across someone else online who likes the weight of this battery.

But when researching this unit at least a couple of people wrote bad reviews for this brand of Inverter.
